Albert Einstein is believed to have said that “if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, man would only have four years of life left.”
And indeed, it's an indisputable fact that without bees, life (as we know it) would look very different.
Why Bees Matter
We could wax lyrical all day about bees, but to put it simply: they are a vital part of the biodiversity that supports the entire food chain.
Bees are the unsung heroes behind so much of what we eat, helping to pollinate around a third of our food. Beyond what's on our plates, bees keep wildflowers blooming and entire ecosystems buzzing with life.
A Fragile Future
Worryingly, bees are currently facing threats from habitat loss, pesticides, climate change and disease. Some places have actually seen bee populations drop by more than half.
That’s a big deal for the planet, and for us too.
Supporting Bees Together
We literally couldn’t make our blends without bees – and consider them our tiny (but vital) co-workers. That's why we partner with the communities that we source our honey from, always supporting responsible beekeeping and helping to raise bee awareness wherever we can.
We also invest in urban greening projects to help create more bee-friendly spaces, and ultimately healthier cities too.
Buzzworthy Bee Facts
And finally, some fun bee trivia!
Did you know that honey never spoils? Yes really... they found pots in Egyptian tombs still good to eat! By our reckoning that would make it around 3,000 to 3,500 years old (dating back to the time of the pharaohs)!
Bees do a little dance (often called the waggle dance) to show others where the best flowers are.
And, would you believe it, bees can recognise human faces. Pretty impressive for such tiny creatures!
